Internship

One of the second semester oceanography students has taken on an internship to help maintain the tanks, assist in chemical tests and learning how to keep detailed logs of the various tanks!  Thank you Jack for all of your help!

Frag Farmers Market

Hopedale Jr/Sr High School will be present at the Frag Farmers Market March 3rd in Storrs Connecticut hosted by the E.O. Smith School.  The E.O. Smith School has one of the countries premier marine studies departments in the high school level and is a model for Hopedale as we continue our journey.   Mr. Vaillancourt is setting up a frag tank to sell corals he has collected and will use a portion of the sales to reinvest in new coral species for the school!

Speaker Enagements

Two amazing guest speakers have been invited to speak with our students about their roles in the hobby and industry.

Justin Credable from Credable Corals LLC. will present on his research in grafting corals and formulating food food for corals.

Rick Correira will speak about his dive into the marine aquaculture industry with his company Home Grown Corals.  Rick breeds and raises clownfish to reduce the impact on the ecosystems.  With his aquacultured fish and corals the demand for wild caught organisms will decrease, helping protect the oceans for future generations.
