The tank has cycled, gone through the green algae phase, dinoflagellate phase and has remnants of the cyanobacteria phase of new tank syndrome.
PROGRESS
The Sustainable Corals Project is currently at 360 gallons total water volume of marine ecosystems. We have a 25 gallon acrylic tank with Reef Brite 50/50 XHO LED light bar, a 75 gallon tank with a 29 gallon sump lit by an Current 8 bulb t5 fixture, lastly we have a 180 gallon tank with a 90 gallon sump located in the Library with a 3 pendant 250 watt metal Halide lighting.
75 Gallon tank
Date of Picture: 1/30/2018
The 75 Gallon tank has cycled, fish and lights were introduced. In this image we had our first algae phase/outbreak. That has now subsided and has dinoflagellates taking over the rock.
180 Gallon Tank
Date of Picture: 1/28/2018
The 180 gallon tank has been cycling for a week now. Ammonia spiked, and is now dropping, however nitrites are too high. Nitrates have begun to show up on tests while bacteria colonizes the rock and converts the ammonia to safe nitrates.
